Nigel Peake has a beautiful new book out, 'In The Wilds', published by Princeton Architectural Press and features Nigel's delicate line drawings and watercolour palettes.
Nigel lives and works in the Irish countryside, in the middle of nowhere deriving inspiration from his rural surroundings, the book boasts of one hundred original drawings of Nigel's hand-drawn observations of his natural environment.
'From the trees, fields, lakes, and rolling hills that form the country landscape to the farmhouses, sheds, tractors, and fences that define it, Peake's obsessively detailed pencil and ink drawings and beautifully muted watercolours capture the slow-moving rythm of his surroundings.'
Contrasting to city life Nigel re-discovers the beauty in the environment 'naturally falling apart' around him, highlighting the importance of function necessary over 'frivolous fashion' in rural life. His introduction to the book sets a clear context in which to view the following interpretations of structural barns, birdsong, tree trunks, haystacks and patchwork fields.
